Thank you ICMPhotoMag Network! Because of you I have more tools in my ICM creative tool box, and with the Network, I have access to a wealth of content to help me grow as an artist in ICM photography. My ICM techniques have expanded beyond just a simple vertical or horizontal sweep (unless that's what I want). With the ever-growing listings of videos, tutorials, and articles on ICM photography, I now have a lot more ideas to help me play and express myself through photography. I really do feel more empowered by my photography than ever before because of the skills learned in the supportive environment of ICMPhotoMag Network.

I am lucky enough to have a good friend who keeps me up to speed with information about interesting photographic activities, so it was through her that I discovered the ICMPhotoMag Network last year and all that it had to offer. From the start, I have found it to be a very warm group, led by three remarkable women photographers. At this point, I feel as if Kaisa, Morag, and Stephanie are my friends! They have embraced this ICM project head on, and the quality of all the support material is exceptional. This includes regular zoom meetings (held on both Saturdays and Sundays so that members the world over can participate), videos, articles explaining various aspects of the bi-monthly themes, descriptions of relevant work personal to each of them with numerous accompanying photographs to explain, and more. This is a programme that doesn't stand still, however you are free to take it at your own pace: what you put in, you get out. The founders are constantly working for the benefit of the members, and I for one am inordinately grateful. Thanks to their dedication, unflagging energy, and enthusiasm for ICM, they have moulded a like-minded community second to none and have motivated me to a level beyond my expectations! A huge thank you to the ICM Network!

I retired at the beginning of 2020 and was looking forward to a period with fewer obligations and lots of freedom. Then came COVID. All sorts of doors were closing right in front of me. I found out about ICM later that year and read about the ICMPhotoMag Network in the summer of 2021. For more than fifty years I had been a self-taught photographer. So why would I become a member? It was plain curiosity and the love for ICM which had pulled me through a series of lockdowns, and that made me say to myself, "Alright, just for a couple of months. Let's see where this will bring me...they're professionals, after all." Apart from a truck load of inspiring articles, videos, and background information, it was 90 minutes of a one-on-one Zoom meeting with Morag Paterson that pushed me in the right direction. She said, "There are no boundaries. You're doing fine. Just go on and enjoy yourself." Confidence in what I was doing...that was exactly what I needed. No obligations, no limitations, just dive in. For me, the ICMPhotoMag Network is like a sweet shop: have a look around and see what appeals to you, be inspired, and take your pick. For those with an open mind, this is the place to be.

The ICMPhotoMag Network community has been a wonderful addition and inspiration to my artistic photography. It has help me learn how Intentional Camera Movement can bring expression and feeling to an image. Creativity is at the centre of ICM, and every one of us is creative in some way. So, why not explore this gift? The ICMPhotoMag Network community has helped me develop my own style of ICM images. Stephanie, Kaisa, and Morag have been very generous in sharing their knowledge with the community. The resources given to community members are enormous, appropriate, and much appreciated. The ICMPhotoMag Network community is a place of continuous learning and sharing. I recommend it to anyone who wants to explore and pursue a creative vision in photography.

I appreciate the mentorship from Morag, Stephanie, and Kaisa so much, they really set the tone for the community at large. The community is supportive and helpful without tearing down with criticism that is harsh or unconstructive. I've asked for advice and help and received so much that moved me forward as an artist. It's a joy and a comfort to be a part of a community that has at its heart a nurturing of all members as artists with their own visions and creativity. I really appreciate the themes that are created every two months. Sometimes, the themes are not necessarily ones that I would think about shooting for, like Urban/Architecture, for example, but going out and playing and practicing at that definitely helped me to grow and challenge myself as an artist. I'm so happy to be honing my artistic vision and practice as a part of this incredible community!

I joined the ICMPhotoMag Network community with the hope of improving my ICM photography and learning more aspects and possibilities with it. It's been a wonderful journey up till now, and I can truly recommend it to all ICM lovers. I can definitely say that my ICM photography is improving and developing. I am not afraid now to experiment more with all kinds of movements with my camera, and I enjoy very much the bi-monthly themes, as well as all the articles, interviews, videos, and stories. I now love doing more abstract work, and I am not afraid to go more crazy with it. All members are nice and respectful, and I get valuable feedback and constructive criticism that I appreciate and learn a lot from. I recently decided to get away from simply documenting what’s in front of the camera and started experimenting with creating images through camera movement. I learned about the ICMPhotoMag Network community through Facebook and decided to join. I have learned a lot through the challenges, themes, and materials provided each month, by observing the work of the other members, getting feedback from both the community and from Kaisa, Morag, and Stephanie, and most of all by experimenting, learning, and having fun. Each of the images generated on the camera is absolutely unique, and once I load them on the computer, there is always a small bunch of them that surprise me and bring me joy. I can say that I appreciate very much being part of the ICMPhotoMag Network community. It is a unique place to experiment, exchange and learn, and a group of people with a passion for ICM photography. I recommend you join, too.

I am a nature photographer based on the east coast in the US. I explored ICM years ago and fell in love with the freedom of the shooting style and creative expression. Last year, I decided I wanted to dive into ICM photography even more and joined the ICMPhotoMag community. The programming has been inspirational and has given me new skills to try out in the field. I enjoy the community feature of getting ideas, skills, and inspiration from the other artists. The flexibility that the community provides works great for me. I can jump in when I have some time to read the new content, share images, and comment on the community forum, but if I get busy, I know that the material will still be there when I find the time. I appreciate the time and detail that Kaisa, Morag, and Stephanie have taken to provide rich content and make themselves available.

In these oppressive days of travel and in-person restrictions, it is with great gratitude that I have been able to turn to the ICMPhotoMag Network to speak with other members, share images, and give and get feedback to improve my own craft, as well as help others improve theirs. By seeing and sharing with humility and honesty, we have all helped each other grow as artists, and we continue to grow as a community.

I am an avid amateur photographer interested in learning about alternative processes in photography. Information about different ways of shooting and alternative ways of processing is hard to come by, so when the ICMPhotoMag Network community was announced, I joined anticipating it would be a source of useful information to help me move forward with my ICM work. The leaders of the community provide a wealth of information (videos, articles, webinars, etc.) to complement a suggested theme, which changes every two months. I have really enjoyed having a theme because it has helped me to focus on what I shoot. I don’t feel at all constrained by having a topic (and it is not required to stay on the theme). Rather, it has stimulated me to shoot in sets or collections. Having a theme is a good discipline for me and has prompted me to persist in refining my shooting technique until I get the effect I envisage. I have also found that interacting with other photographers who are keen to explore and hone skill in ICM has been both beneficial and encouraging. It is always interesting to see what others are attracted to create, so I enjoy looking at the images that are posted in the ICMPhotoMag Network. Every month, the leaders offer a session of constructive critiques of images posted by three random members. It is always interesting to hear why people focused on what they shot, how they did it, and what their self-assessment is regarding how they accomplished what they set out to do.

My goal in my photography was to be able to produce abstract images that have a unique style to them, rather than images that could be replicated. Being part of the ICMPhotoMag Network has given me the confidence and knowledge to enjoy my creative progress down this chosen path. The network is an inclusive group of people who will help you develop at whatever speed you want to set for yourself. You can choose to produce images and get feedback on them, or just use the content provided to read or listen to in your own timeframe.

I have always liked creative post-processing as opposed to general post processing. The Abstract Expressionism theme for January/February has really fostered this preference. Continuous exploration of this theme has helped me produce some of my best work. By flipping layers and using blending modes on my original ICMs, I can create unique works of art. Many thanks to Kaisa, Morag, and Stephanie, who have encouraged my growth as a member of the ICMPhotoMag Network. I have also enjoyed making new friends from all over the world in the community.

The ICMPhotoMag Network community is full of new, unconventional ideas. To see the creativity with which the bi-monthly topics are interpreted is impressive, and it motivates me to understand and practice ICM as an integral part of my own photography.

I have always been drawn to painterly, impressionistic, creative photography, especially with movement, so when the opportunity arose to join a group specialising in ICM, I could not wait to be a part of it. The ICMPhotoMag Network has exceeded my expectations in so many ways! The sources of information and inspiration are not just made available and left for you to pick up or not; they are demonstrated in filmed tutorials or submitted photos with insights and information to encourage you to try new ideas or techniques. These sources and the bi-monthly themes have taken my ICM photography to places I would not have considered prior to joining such a friendly and encouraging group. The freedom and fun of ICM photography is very actively encouraged with amazing support and feedback from Stephanie, Kaisa, and Morag. Excited and inspired by my growth so far within this wonderful group, I am looking forward to seeing where it takes me next!

The ICMPhotoMag Network community has helped me learn and grow as a person and as an artist. I have been inspired by prompts, the mentors, and community members, and I have developed knowledge and new techniques that have influenced how I express myself through my photography. I have learned much about myself, what interests me, and what techniques best suit me. My biggest takeaway in the last six months is realizing that I do not prefer one ICM technique over the other. My subject (person, object, atmosphere, etc.) dictates the style I choose, as well as my mood and state of mind. My photography has evolved and achieved greater meaning.

Creativity is exploring, experimenting, taking risks, making mistakes, and enjoying the process. Joining the ICMPhotoMag Network has provided a wonderful opportunity to stimulate and develop my creative process, engage with fellow creatives, and use this inspiration to take my photography to a higher level. I no longer look at the world; I visualise what could be!

Since I have been dealing with gestural photography for several years, I felt the need to learn "more." I saw wonderful works of art on social media channels and was very inspired and motivated to improve my knowledge about them. Just "moving around" is not all it is. You have to have an idea, a project, or even an artistic model to help you create a new type of ICM photography and develop it for yourself. About one year ago, ICMPhotoMag Network came into my life at just the right time. I already knew ICMPhotoMag from the Facebook group, so I didn't hesitate for a moment when the chance came up to become a member of the Network, and I haven't regretted it for a second. The members are all very motivated and we support each other. Through the inspiration, incredible creativity, and experiments that create new work, I have found an incredible enrichment in my work. My approach to my work is more and more successful on the meditative level. Above all, the project-related objectives—which are provided to us by the three incredibly committed women, Stephanie, Morag, and Kaisa—help me/us to get better. Stephanie, Morag, and Kaisa each have their strengths, and you can choose what you like. Thank you for all the tips, help, and, above all, for going your own way with self-confidence. Success and encouragement is the wonderful result. Simply, thank you!

The ICMPhotoMag Network community has opened a whole new creative opportunity for me. I enjoyed taking ICM images before I joined, but as soon as I saw what the community was about, the resources that had been made available, and the great sprit the people running it have—plus the support the members give each other—I knew it would be a place I could grow. It has introduced me to many other photographers who have inspired me to challenge myself (Bill Ward and Erik Malm, to name just two). Every ICM image is unique, and the many and various techniques available to take these images just adds to the fun of it. Just try it!

I was introduced to ICM over 10 years ago after attending a seminar featuring Eddie Soloway here in the United States. I was immediately enamored by the technique and its endless possibilities in expressing emotion when painting with the camera and its slow shutter approach. I dabbled off and on, and even took a weekend course taught by Eddie in New York City. After spending time regrouping in 2020 due to the pandemic, I was determined to reenergize my creativity in 2021. I finally committed to improving my ICM images, and the universe was listening. I found the ICMPhotoMag Facebook group, and then joined the ICMPhotoMag Network. I've not looked back. I found my tribe, which has contributed to my courage, as well as my creativity, to stay the course. The inspiration this group provides is immeasurable and my personal joy in pursuing this artform is incalculable.

Although I had been fascinated by the wonderful ICM images I had seen on the Internet for some time, it actually took me quite a while before I was brave enough to give it a go for myself. At about the same time, as I took the plunge with trying to produce ICM images, the ICMPhotoMag Facebook group came into being. I joined and found it an awesome one to be part of. When the idea of developing the ICMPhotoMag Network community was suggested, I was very keen to be a part of this extension to the original group. I have been involved with it from the beginning and have found the network itself to be inspirational. There is just so much talent within the community. Members give freely of their knowledge and experiences, which in itself helps to promote creativity. Stephanie, Morag, and Kaisa do a fantastic job of providing insight, resources, and ideas to further enhance our skills, and all whilst ensuring we have the space and freedom to progress at our own pace and in our own way. I remember once reading a quote by Vincent Munier which said, "When you reveal everything, you kill imagination. I live in a world of imagination and that is where I want to stay." This summed up how I felt about ICM photography, and thanks to the guidance of Stephanie, Morag, and Kaisa and the camaraderie of the ICMPhotoMag Network community, I have found the perfect vehicle for living in my world of imagination. Thank you to you all.

I was thrilled when the ICMPhotoMag Network was announced. It gave me a sense of community with people from all over the globe. The three mentors are so supportive and inspiring, and each is a recognized artist. The themes have really pushed me to explore subjects I normally would not have. I come from a traditional photography background, and ICM has been new for me these last four years. The material presented for the bi-monthly themes is fascinating. It really opens a person's thinking to possibilities. There is no pressure to do the themes; a person can work on something different and still post and get feedback. I love the fact that it isn't a large group, but smaller, so we can really get to know each other and be supportive. The network has helped me gain direction for my projects and, most importantly, it has fed my creativity and sparked my curiosity in new ways.

The ICMPhotoMag Network has helped me grow as a photographer. By participating in the community, I am learning a photography technique new to me while exploring who I am and my way as an artist and creator of images. I have been “seeing” the world through a different lens and reaching for whatever camera I have with me to make photographs. I love the freedom and creativity the ICM genre of photography offers and enjoy the unpredictability of the outcome of a shoot, even when focused on the same subject. The resulting colors, shapes, and textures never cease to surprise and amaze me. Since joining the ICMPhotoMag Network, I look at the world around me differently and have come to see beauty and art, and often see and look for the aspects of color, shape, and texture in my environment as opposed to a specific subject on its own. Reviewing other members’ works, participating in the live discussions, and reading the recommended materials allows me to continue my own exploration and growth both as a photographer and as an artist. Learning is a process that never ends, and I am grateful to the ICMPhotoMag Network for giving me a path for my journey!

I consider my membership in the ICMPhotoMag Network an important part of my overall journey in growth. The journey of developing one's creativity goes beyond the process of trial and error. It's a process that is also about reading articles with examples, techniques used, and/or work created by other artists. The feedback from fellow members makes me look at my own photos through their eyes, and I submerge myself in their art when I provide them with my feedback. Although I have my own favorite subjects to capture, as well as artists and fellow members to follow, all this together, facilitated and stimulated by Kaisa, Morag, and Stephanie, inspires me, resulting in new ideas popping up in my head and the urge to try new subjects and/or movements, and this means growth.

My membership in the ICMPhotoMag Network community means a lot to me. The inspirational workshops and feedback available have made me a bolder and more experimental photographer. I'm especially intrigued by the January/February theme, "Abstract Expressionism." Morag, Stephanie, and Kaisa are all very generous, sharing their knowledge and expertise with us all. The discussions with and feedback from other members are also really helpful and interesting. The atmosphere in the community is very positive and encouraging. I'm looking forward to going on learning more, both technically and artistically. I love the playfulness of ICM and the opportunity for artistic development. I can't paint or draw, but with ICM, artistic expression is still achievable. Thank you so much for setting up this network!
